Senior Steve Saed shares his thoughts
on being part of the district's Gifted progam.
When can I register my child for kindergarten? Each spring there is a districtwide kindergarten enrollment day, usually held in March. Parents must register your child at the Board of Education office, 1470 Warren Road.
What if my child is in the district's Preschool Program? Do I still have to register? No. Children in the district’s preschool program will be automatically registered.
How do I know which school is my neighborhood school?
The boundaries for each school are detailed in the Elementary Boundaries Map and the Elementary Boundaries Narrative.
Can I take a tour of my neighborhood school?
Yes. Please call the principal of your neighborhood school to set up a convenient time for both of you. You can view the schools' and principals' contact information here.
Does the extended day kindergarten option cost anything?
Other than school supplies and a general school fee, no. When does the kindergarten day start/end?
All kindergartners can enter their building beginning at 8:45 a.m. and must be in class by 9 a.m. Half day students are dismissed at 11:30 a.m. Extended day students are dismissed at 3:05 p.m. The extended day schedule is the same for all elementary grades.
Can I apply for open enrollment at a school other than my neighborhood school?
Yes. The process for doing so will be announced in early spring of each school year. Most families are notified of the decision to accept a student’s open enrollment application by mid-August. The decision is dependent on space available with students living in the school of choice’s boundaries taking priority. Having a sibling at the school where one is applying for open enrollment does not increase the chances of being accepted. Please call 529-4203 for more information.
Is there on-site before and after school care at all the elementary schools? Yes. There are a number of child care options for each of our elementary schools. See our list of providers here
