Principal's Message

MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK

Once again I am amazed by how quickly a school year goes by.  It seems like just yesterday we were in preparation to welcome our new 6th graders and now we are preparing for our end of the year activities and 8th grade celebrations.  At this time of the year it is always rewarding to look back at the accomplishments, the learning activities, and the extra-curricular opportunities that Garfield Middle School has to offer.  Please take a moment to read the next page for all of  the “Great Things that Happened at Garfield This Year”.

As this year comes to end it is time to say goodbye and thank you to our retiring staff who have given so much to our students and to our school.  It is with mixed emotions that we say farewell to Mrs. Csongei, Mrs. Ellert, Mrs. Hopkins and Mrs. Winter.  Although we are so fortunate to have this wonderful building, it is the people that make Garfield great.

Finally, I would like to thank our wonderful Garfield PTSA. The PTSA support for the children and staff has been immeasurable. Many of the exciting opportunities to learn and grow would not have been possible without the efforts and hard work of the Garfield PTSA led by President Tracey Logan. Please take a moment to say thank you to our very active PTSA leadership and thank you to all the families who have helped throughout the school year.

Although the school year is quickly coming to an end there is still much learning to take place and many great year-end activities planned. It has been a pleasure and an honor to work with you and your children this year and I am already looking forward to next year. Garfield is a fantastic building with technology that promotes learning but it is the staff, students and parents that have made this building a special place.

Go Garfield!

Mr. Walter
